TenTenGo is a unique social networking site with features encompassing profiles, friends lists, blogs, galleries, video upload, communities, and much more. It is unique in that it was designed to work with schools and parents in order to provide a networking site that could actually age-verify members, and allow children a safe place to interact with others.
TenTenGo also functioned as a feature-rich incentives and rewards site. This system could be used by schools and parents but it worked supremely well for corporates who could incentivise employees and also use it as an extensive intranet and extranet.
One element of the site that we were quite proud of was our virtual worlds area. This was X3D based and allowed the user to create and share 3D areas and avatars which were totally browser-based. Some of our work in this area was pioneering, to our knowledge.
Monica Worthington’s role on this project was Web Director, guiding the project, managing development teams, writing the project plan, designing the site, and handling information architecture, SEO, and other matters. She also got to do some work on the 3D areas, being responsible for skinning avatars and creating textures for environments.
